The Future Alumni Network board of directors is made up of active, connected students who plan and deliver relevant and engaging programming and events that help promote lifelong connections. Board members are the chief ambassadors of the Future Alumni Network, and are knowledgeable, visible and active when representing the organization to fellow students, university personnel and alumni. The board of directors is made up of the following:
The chief executive officer. Supervises all the affairs of FAN. The President presides at all meetings of the Board and at all meetings of the general membership as a whole. The President has the authority to create ad hoc committees.
Perform such duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board. In the absence of the President, the Vice President performs the duties of the President with all the powers and duties of that office. The Vice President also supervises activities of all committee chairs.
Keeps the minutes, tracks attendance, coordinates with the assistant director for Financial Services or chief financial staff member of NSU’s Office of Development and Alumni Services on financial matters of FAN, coordinates with the President to prepare an agenda for meetings, processes all incoming and outgoing correspondence and performs other related duties. These duties shall be performed under the supervision of the President.
Member Recruitment & Engagement Chair
Oversees all efforts organized to recruit and retain members. Also reviews and revises benefits as directed by the Board.
Oversees the planning and execution of FAN events and any other event in which FAN is fiscally responsible and/or engaged.
Alumni Outreach Chair
Serves as a communication liaison between FAN and NSU alumni, and oversees efforts to connect and engage NSU alumni with FAN activities.
Oversees efforts to ensure that FAN and its events, efforts and activities are effectively communicated through non-digital platforms to promote maximum engagement and participation.
Social Media Chair
Oversees efforts to ensure that FAN and its events, efforts and activities are effectively communicated through relevant digital platforms to promote maximum engagement and participation.
At-Large Board Members
Provide additional leadership and perspective to the board, and assist chairs with planning and executing programming and events.
How to Become a FAN Board Member
Board members are elected each year by simple majority at the December all-member meeting. Only members in good standing are eligible to serve on the Board. All members present at the meeting have the right to vote in the election. Executive Committee positions, with the exception of the President, shall be filled by election from among the Board of Directors at the first meeting after the December all-member meeting. The President shall be appointed by NSU's director of Alumni Services.
